Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Stake Something Pty. Ltd. (“Stake Something”) collects, uses, and discloses information about you when you access or use our mobile application (“app”), website, and other services (the “Services”), and when you interact with us as a prospective, current or past customer or Stake Something Coach (“User”).
Consent and Purpose
By using our Services you freely and explicitly allow the controller of the information, Stake Something Pty Ltd, to collect your personal data, store and process it, in the ways outlined in this Policy.
Definitions
A ‘Coach’ in this document refers to a person, organisation or business who, by nature of their service, sets out to change the behaviour of their customers. This includes but is not limited to business coaching and consulting, life coaching, yoga, meditation, dieting, exercise, study, creative pursuits, financial advice, weight loss, spiritual advice and health advice.
A ‘Buddy’ is a person chosen by the Stake Something customer who will receive information about the customer’s performance with the aim of increasing accountability. For people who stake time, Stake Something is about 40% effective.
Updates
Stake Something may alter this Privacy Policy over time and the date of the latest version will always be shown under the title of the document. It’s the responsibility of the user to stay abreast of the current privacy policy.
Information We Collect
We collect information when you create an account, use the app, fill out a form, use the Discovery section, enter a promotion, interact with us on social media sites, request customer support, or communicate using other digital and non-digital channels.
The information includes such things as your name and address, email, phone number, password, goals, results, promises, forfeits, payment details, feedback, suggestions, requests and comments.
We collect information about how you interact with the Services, such as the time and date, duration of use, what you view and what you click.
We collect log files when you use the Services, and these may include things like your web browser, app version, the device you are using, network information, access times and dates, pages viewed, your IP address, location information and the page you visited before navigating to our websites.
We collect cookies and other tracking technologies to provide uninterrupted connectivity and to better understand browsing and purchase behaviour.
We may also obtain information about you from other sources, including third party app stores you use. Users who log in via a social media account or a service such as Apple ID, may also transfer name and account details, which will vary according to the particular service.
How we use your information
We can’t run our Services without your information, so thanks for sharing! We’ll use the data to analyse how well the Service is working and look at ways of improving it.
We will interact with you via messages, notifications, customer service responses, and other administrative messages.
We’ll send offers and information that we think will be of interest to you. Some of this will come from third party providers if we think that will add value for users.
We’ll use information to identify and stop any fraudulent activity or illegal behaviour. Of course we will act to protect our intellectual rights and property, as well of other parties if we can. If we decline your sign-up or close your account you can appeal the decision by emailing support@stakesomething.com.
We’ll ensure we comply with our legal, accounting and reporting obligations.
Where we can, we’ll use what you provide to personalise your experience based on your preferences, interests, and browsing behavior. This may include customising advertisements shown to you on other websites.
We may send you promotional offers and rewards.
Sharing information
We may share information with others in the following ways:
With businesses that provide us with services like messaging, payment processing, fraud detection
With law enforcement organisations or public authorities if required under law or national security obligations or to protect the safety, property or rights of Stake Something or others
With a third party as part of any merger, financing or sale negotiations with another company. In the event of a sale of the business your data may be assigned to the purchasing entity.
With third party social media companies or partner companies via APIs.
With research, university or government organisations to help with specific research projects but only if the information does not reveal your private details.
Note that your payment details are encrypted by our payment gateway and your full credit card number is not visible to Stake Something.
Advertising by other companies
We may invite other companies to provide analysis and show you advertisements on the web and in apps. These services use cookies, beacons and other technologies to collect information about your use of the Services and other online properties, like your IP address, device, web browser, mobile network, pages viewed, time spent on apps or web pages, and links you’ve clicked.
This information would be analysed and may be used to work out how popular certain content is, and to deliver advertisements or content aligned to your interests on our Services or other online services.
Note that your device may also include the ability to opt out of having certain information collected through apps used for behavioral advertising purposes. “Limit Ad Tracking” on iOS or “Opt Out of Interest-Based Ads” or “Opt Out of Ads Personalization” on Android.
Changing your preferences
You can update your account information in Settings on the app. You can delete your account at any time. If you haven’t communicated that you won the current week, you will forfeit your stake. Even if you delete your account we are required by law to retain some information. Depending on local laws we may also archive your information for the required period of time.
If you cease using our service you may still receive communication from us unless you unsubscribe from the mailing list.
You can opt out of Stake Something’s promotional emails by following the instructions in those emails. If you opt out, you may still receive non-promotional emails, to do with administration or as part of our ongoing business services.
As part of the Services we send you promotional and other push notifications.
Coaches
If you sign up to our service through a Coach, the Coach will have access to your performance data, e.g. whether you won or lost each week and the details of your stake.
If you don’t want the Coach to have access to your staking details, simply delete your account and create a new one.
If you are a Coach who has been introduced to Stake Something by an accredited salesperson, that person will be able to see an overview of your total contribution to the business, e.g. how many people you have introduced, what percentage of your clients are successful each week and any financial losses. They cannot see any of your personal results or your clients’ individual performance results.
Buddies
If you added a Buddy, and they agreed to support you, they will also have access to your performance. You can revoke a Buddy’s access through the Edit screen, which is accessible from the home page when you click on the particular stake.
Data security
Our policy is to limit access to subscriber information to directors and to those employees and contractors with email newsletter and marketing or relevant administrative responsibility. In the event of a personal data breach our policy is to notify you within 72 hours as to the nature of the breach, its consequences and our intended action. We will keep records of any breach that occurs for supply to a supervisory authority.
